Finally! The spring weather has arrived in Virginia after a long…looong winter! I don’t know about you but spring is so exciting to me! I fill my house with tulips, crack the windows open, and deeply clean and organize the house. Something about the welcomed warmer temps just gets me in the mood to clean and organize! Today I’m sharing some of my spring cleaning and organizing tips and tricks with you that I have found to be very helpful in welcoming the new season!
I love having fresh flowers in the house, especially tulips in the spring. Tulips are pretty much the flower ambassador for the spring season. If I don’t have fresh flowers in the home then you’re sure to see some artificial ones around. I like to change the artificial ones around in my house each season. Adding florals just brightens my mood and gets me in spirit for spring!
We like to break down our cleaning into a schedule. I will set a day and time for each task we want to tackle. For example this weekend we will be racking the bark in our landscape to get ready to lay down mulch and plant flowers for next weekend. On Fridays, I like to mop the floors and Tuesday and Thursdays are dedicated to cleaning the bathrooms and windows. We vacuum daily because kids and a dog make that a requirement! So having a schedule definitely helps keep things on track.
It wouldn’t be spring cleaning without organization! Now is the time to clean out your garage and closets to store winter items and bring out spring and summer essential and to also purge items you no longer need or use. We have spent the last couple weeks doing this in order to get rid of things to either donate or put in our upcoming yard sale.
One of the best things we have done in our house is to add a shelf in our laundry room to stock up on essentials! We use this shelf to load up on diapers, wipes, paper towels and toilet paper. I don’t know about your family but mine goes through toilet paper like crazy! We decided it would be best to buy in bulk in order to save ourselves money and trips to the store! We buy our favorite brand Charmin and recently tried the Charmin Ultra Soft Toilet Paper, Family Mega Roll with Cushiony Touch from Amazon and have it delivered the very next day. When the delivery comes I stock the shelf and let the kids know that we are stocked of toilet paper and that if they see an empty roll they can replace it and know where to find the roll. No more asking more toilet paper when on the Jon because they now know where to find it!
We love the convenience of buying our toilet paper from Amazon and the fact that we are saving money while doing so! The Charmin Ultra Soft Toilet Paper, Family Mega Roll with Cushiony Touch is available on Amazon. We love that 1 roll is equivalent to 5 rolls! As a family of four that is pretty wonderful! You can find it here and be sure to use code 3MEGACHARMIN for an additional $3 in savings!
Deep Clean Carpets
Whether you rent a carpet cleaner or purchase one it is a good idea to deep clean all the carpets in your home. Think of all the dirt and dust lingering in your carpets from the long fall and winter season spent indoors! Time to clean clean clean those bad boys!
Baseboards and Cabinets
Don’t forget to clean those baseboards and cabinets! It’s easy to forget about cleaning these two things but go take a look at them now and you might see why you need to clean them! I forget about my baseboards ALL the time and let me tell you, when we were selling our last home it was such a pain to clean them after neglecting them that I told myself I would never let them go again!
Spring/ Summer Scents
Now is the time to say goodbye to the cinnamon smell and welcome the fresh flowers and citrus scents so spring and summer. We are currently loving to diffuse essential oils in our home and luckily we have a friend who sells amazing oils who we can purchase ours from.
I hope you all are ready and excited for the warmer weather as much as we are!
Happy Spring cleaning Y’all!
